Mary Aloe, Aloe Ent, Sony Picts & Vertical Ent Announce US Release of 55 STEPS

Mary Aloe, executive producer, Aloe Entertainment, Sony Pictures and Vertical Entertainment are pleased to announce the cable and theatrical releases of 55 STEPS, which stars two-time Oscar nominee Helena Bonham Carter (“The Wings of the Dove,” “King’s Speech,” “The Crown”), two-time Oscar winner/two-time Golden Globe winner Hilary Swank (“Million Dollar Baby,” “Boys Don’t Cry”). The film is directed by Bille August and written by Mark Rosin. Last year 55 STEPS was in competition at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The film will be released via all cable networks on October 16, 2018 and theatrically on November 16, 2018.

55 STEPS tells the true story of pro bono lawyer Colette Hughes (Hilary Swank) who, when she goes to meet her new client, Eleanor Riese (Helena Bonham Carter), a patient in the psychiatric unit of a San Francisco hospital, has no idea that, aside from taking on an uphill legal battle to improve treatment for mental patients in hospitals, she is meeting a woman who will make it her mission to transform Colette’s workaholic life and change the laws/rights for mentally ill patients forever.
