Aloe Entertainment is one of Los Angeles’ most prolific independent production companies. The Los Angeles based feature film/television company was created in 1999 by Mary Aloe. Mary Aloe and Aloe Entertainment produces and finances individual pictures and slates of movies. Aloe Entertainment specializes in developing/producing independent features, television series, and network and cable event movies. Mary Aloe and Aloe Entertainment specialize in obtaining 100% financing for features by raising private equity; working with hedge funds, gap financing, top tier foreign sales companies and securing domestic distribution. Producer Mary Aloe and Aloe Entertainment, along with her development team, have produced and/or financed 41 films ( a record 22 features in the last 8 years alone) , along with 6 television series. Mary Aloe’s vast knowledge of P & A financing was acknowledged, she ran a 50 million dollar P & A for R E backed by Merrill Lynch.

Aloe Entertainment is a full service film and television packaging production house located in Beverly Hills, California. Mary Aloe and staff specialize in bringing Equity and Mezzanine financing to pictures, as well as develop in house projects from the script to screen. Aloe Entertainment and its principal owner Mary Aloe produce and/or finance 4 to 5 movies a year. Aloe’s slate of films coming outThe company was started 22 years ago and since then has produced, 43 films and 9 series. Aloe’s slate of films released in 2021/2022 an include Worth, starring Michael Keaton and Stanley Tucci, with Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground The film premiered at Sundance 2020 and launched on Netflix. Flag Day, directed by and starring Sean Penn, premiered at Cannes 2021 with MGM. Bruised, starring and directed by Halle Berry, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival 2020,  with Netflix. Our 2023 Slate we are currently filming Groove Tails, produced by, co-written, and starring Jamie Foxx. Marlowe directed by Neil Jordan and starring Liam Neeson, Diane Kruger and Jessica Lang, which premiers on 2000 screens Feb 15th in US. Tin Solider starring Jamie Foxx, Robert De Niro and Rita Ora in post-production now. Upcoming projects set for 2023 are a Netflix original movie Girl Who Fell from the SkyRuin starring Marion Cotillard and Michael Fassbender is Blacklist script winner. They are in pre-production on Freud’s Last Session starring Anthony Hopkins and Matthew Goode for Sony. Couture written and directed by Nick Cassavetes, and in-house projects including Armistice and Birds Eye that are co-written by Aloe.

In 2018 and 2019  Mary Aloe produced the action cop thriller, Killerman, starring Liam Hemsworth. Disturbing the Peacean action thriller starring Guy Pearce In 2017, in competition at TIFF, Aloe Entertainment executive produced, with Sony, 55 Steps; shot in Cologne Germany, Portugal and San Francisco and starring two-time Oscar nominee Helena Bonham Carter (The Wings of A Dove, The Kings Speech) two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank (Million Dollar Baby, Boys Don’t Cry) and Golden Globe winner, Jeffrey Tambor. Mary Aloe produced and financed Beast of Burden starring Daniel Radcliffe; a contained action thriller about a man conflicted as he crosses his own lines working for both the DEA and the Cartel at the same time. Mary Aloe and team produced a Black List script comedy, Dear Dictator, starring Sir Michael Caine, Odeya Rush, Katie Holmes, Jason Biggs, and Seth Greene; about a young girl that writes to a ruthless dictator in another country who is overthrown and lands on her doorstep in small town America. MARA along with the producer of Paranormal Activity and Insidious, in Savannah, Georgia starring Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace, The November Man)  is based upon a real medical condition called “Sleep Paralysis.” Multiple cultures around the world over many millennia. An American comedy, Wild Oats, starring Shirley MacLaine, Jessica Lange and Demi Moore, came out in theaters with Weinstein in 2016. Ten Thousand Saints at the Sundance Film Festival 2015. The movie is a father son picture for the millenniums, starring Ethan Hawke, Emile Hirsh, Asa Butterfield and Hailee Steinfeld and The Brawler, based on the real life Rocky, Chuck Wepner and the comedy Hollywood and Wine.

Aloe Entertainment and Mary Aloe arranged financing, produced and completed five features after running a studio in Vancouver. Many of these critically acclaimed features were selected for some of the world’s most prestigious film festivals: When A Man Falls In The Forest, starring Sharon Stone and Timothy Hutton, was selected for main competition at the Berlin International Film Festival and in the main competition for America’s South By Southwest Film Festival; Numb, starring Matthew Perry and Mary Steenburgen, was selected to have its world premiere in the Discovery section at the Tribeca Film Festival; and Battle In Seattle, a political action drama written and directed by Stuart Townsend and starring Charlize Theron, Woody Harrelson, Ray Liotta, Channing Tatum, Andre Benjamin, Joshua Jackson, Martin Henderson, Connie Nielsen and Michelle Rodriguez. Battle in Seattle had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in main competition and had the biggest sale at the festival and is being multi-platformed theatrically across America this fall of 2008. Aloe’s other films include While She Was Out, a female action thriller starring Kim Basinger and Lucas Haas; executive produced by Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth) and jointly produced by Don Murphy (Transformers); and Tortured, starring Laurence Fishburne and James Cromwell , which was released through Sony Pictures. Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever, with  Lionsgate , had its theatrical release in the spring of 2009. Aloe’s first feature film endeavor was in 2004 and entitled Downtown: A Street Tale, starred Genevieve Bujold and Domenica Scorsese.

Mary Aloe’s foray into the business began in television with producing over eight successful national reality and television talks shows. In 2001, Mary Aloe transitioned into long form television with Columbia TriStar and NBC with The Princess and the Marinea MOW for NBC Television, the project, chronicling the true story of a Middle Eastern Princess who fell in love with an American Marine, generated so much excitement that it incited the second biggest bidding war in television history. It then became the highest rated Movie of the Week that year for NBC. Aloe executive produced this made for TV movie with Columbia Tri-Star.

The television division of Aloe Entertainment produced Room 401 jointly with partners Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg, premiering on MTV. Mary Aloe is also developing a bevy of reality series The Real Women of Nashville, The Real Life Coming to America, and The Nancy Grace Project with America’s most famous female prosecutor and CNN talk show host with 20th Century Fox television studios.

Mary Aloe and Aloe Entertainment has also affiliated herself with the top organizations in the entertainment industry. She is a member of the following guilds: WEN (Women’s Entertainment Network), American Federation of Women in Television and Radio, CAUCUS, Women in Film, Women in Media , Women Occupy Hollywood.

Originally from North Carolina. Amanda joined Aloe Entertainment in 2017. She specializes in high level script coverage, development of in-house scripts and managing day to day tasks on behalf of founder Mary Aloe and assisting with all stages of feature film and television production including budgeting, financing, casting, film festivals as well as foreign and domestic distribution deals.

SHARON PAUL

DEVELOPMENT

Sharon Paul is an LA-based screenwriter and producer and joined the Aloe Entertainment team in 2019. Originally from the UK, Sharon trained through LAMDA as an actor, before spending many years developing her craft as a screenwriter. She now specializes in writing and producing female-driven films. In addition to assisting Mary Aloe with in-house project development, Sharon also facilitates high-level strategic partnerships to promote and finance upcoming projects.

JAKE SHERMAN

FINANCE DEVELOPMENT

Jacob S. Sherman, an accomplished entrepreneur, and finance executive, serves as Aloe Entertainment’s CFO, where he oversees financial analysis for investor communications. Concurrently, Jake is a Managing Director for Xinyuan Real Estate’s (NYSE: XIN) tech division, leading their innovative Blockchain/RE Fractionalization initiative. Jake holds a BS in Finance from University of Pittsburgh and a Masters in RE Finance from New York University (NYU).

Carlos Espinoza

PRODUCTION CONSULTANT

Carlos Espinoza joined Aloe Entertainment in 2007 for the production of “Battle In Seattle”, and has since supported Aloe’s feature films and documentary projects from concept to completion. Carlos is a broadcast Emmy winner and National Edward R. Murrow award-winner for best documentary. He has directed marketing and content operations at PBS, ABC and CBS media companies.

JAY WILLICK

DEVELOPMENT

Jay Willick joined the development team of Aloe Entertainment in August of 2007 reviewing and covering all incoming projects. Jay currently supervises the development team and reports directly to founder Mary Aloe, assisting with all stages of feature film and television production including budgeting, financing, casting, film festivals as well as foreign and domestic distribution deals.
